News Topical, Digital Desk : The auspicious festival of Hanuman Janmotsav (Hanuman Janmotsav 2026) has arrived. To appease Lord Hanuman, the remover of troubles, many of us recite the "Sunderkand" on this day, either at home or in temples. The Sunderkand is considered the most significant part of Goswami Tulsidas's Ramcharitmanas.

But did you know that to reap its full benefits, it's crucial to follow certain rules? The scriptures describe the correct method for reciting the Sunderkand. Learn here how to recite it and its benefits.

Correct method and rules of reading Sunderkand

The first and most important consideration is time. According to scriptures and beliefs, Sunderkand should be recited either in the morning or after 4 pm. It is said that beginning the recitation after 12 noon is not auspicious and does not yield its full benefits.

After this, take a bath and put on your clothes. Then, take a clean stool and spread a clean red cloth on it. Then, place a beautiful picture or idol of Hanuman Ji there and light a lamp of pure ghee. Before beginning the recitation, bow down to Lord Shri Ram and Hanuman Ji and worship them.

One thing to keep in mind is that when you sit down to study, don't leave it unfinished or talk to anyone. Focus your attention solely on the lesson and avoid any negative thoughts.

After completing the recitation, offer fruits, boondi, or gram flour laddus to Bajrangbali. If you wish, you can also offer him henna. Finally, perform Hanuman Ji's Aarti with full devotion and then share the prasad with all the family members.

What are the benefits of reading Sunderkand?

  • It is said in religious scriptures that by reading Sundarkand on auspicious days like Hanuman Jayanti or Tuesday, even the biggest problems of life can be easily averted.
  • When you read it, all the stress of the mind goes away and the soul gets a strange peace.
  • This lesson inspires a person to leave the evil and wrong path and follow the path of truth and goodness.
  • According to astrology, if some planets in your horoscope are troubling you (adverse planets), then reciting Sundarkand (Sunderkand Ka Path) also protects you from the bad effects of those planets.
