But even before its release, a scene from the film has created a ruckus due to which it is facing controversy. Even a religious community has raised questions on the certificate given to the film by the CBFC.
This scene created trouble
A Christian group called Watchdog Foundation has strongly objected to the romantic scene shown in the church in Siddharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's upcoming film Param Sundari. They have written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Mumbai Police, Information and Broadcasting Ministry and Maharashtra Government in this regard. Watchdog Foundation's lawyer Godfrey Pimenta said, 'CBFC, established under the Cinematograph Act, 1952, has been entrusted with the responsibility of giving certificates to films keeping in mind the respect of religious sentiments.
Demand raised for filing FIR
He further said, 'The church is a holy place for Christians and obscene content should not be shown in it. This scene also hurts the sentiments of the Catholic community'. The foundation has threatened to protest if this scene is not removed from the film and promotional video. They have also demanded to register an FIR against the lead characters, director and producer of the film for hurting the religious sentiments of the Catholic community.
Let us tell you that in this film, Siddharth and Janhvi Kapoor are going to share the screen for the first time. Siddharth is playing the role of a Punjabi boy Param, who falls in love with a South Indian girl played by Janhvi Kapoor. Fans have liked the trailer a lot and everyone is eagerly waiting for the film.
Directed by Tushar Jalota, Param Sundari also stars Rajeev Khandelwal, Akash Dahiya and Manjot Singh in important roles. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on August 29, 2025.
