News Topical, Digital Desk : Due to yard remodeling at Prayagraj Junction, one of the most important stations on the Delhi-Howrah route, a six-and-a-half-hour mega block began at 11 a.m. on Thursday. During this time, trains running on the Delhi-Howrah route have been diverted between Kanpur and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya station. This means these trains will not arrive at Prayagraj Junction today.
Trains will run on this route
Most trains are running via Kanpur-Lucknow-Varanasi. For example, the North East Express, as it departs from Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, will depart from the New West Cabin via Vyasnagar-Kashi-Varanasi-Bhadohi, Suriyawan, Janghai, Badshahpur, Maa Barahi Devi, Maa Belha Devi Pratapgarh, Chilbila, Amethi, Gaurganj, Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Alambagh, Unnao, and Kanpur.
Train operations at Prayagraj Junction halted till 5 pm
On the other hand, trains will not operate at Prayagraj Junction until 5:30 pm today. Yard remodeling work will be completed during this time. Trains that were running from Prayagraj Junction during the day will be rescheduled. This means trains like the Kalindi Express and the Dr. Ambedkar Nagar Express will run late.
Yard remodeling changes train operations
Yard remodeling (Phase One) work began on April 20th at the North Central Railway's Prayagraj station, resulting in significant changes to train operations. This work will continue until May 25th. Currently, there are 27 lines, both large and small, in the Prayagraj yard.
Testing the lines
After the yard remodeling, all lines will be expanded to 25. Full-size trains will now be able to run on these lines. Testing of these lines will begin on Thursday. Signal operation will be assessed. This means the entire day will be used for commissioning.
Two new platforms will also be built.
This yard remodeling will also see the construction of two new platforms. These platforms will be located between the existing platforms 7, 8, and 9/10. This will increase the number of platforms at Prayagraj Junction to 12 in the future. Once all lines are commissioned, Prayagraj's line capacity will increase, making train movement much easier. Trains will no longer need to stop at the outer tracks.
Diversion of 35 trains
Due to yard remodeling, the Vande Bharat Express (22549/22550) is being operated from Prayagraj station until April 30. The routes of 35 trains have been changed. Several major trains, including the Ahmedabad-Darbhanga, Gorakhpur-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, and Raxaul-Lokmanya Tilak, are now being diverted (via Prayagraj Chheoki).
Both Humsafar trains will run from Subedarganj till April 30.
The Prayagraj-New Delhi and Prayagraj-Anand Vihar Terminal Humsafar Express trains will operate from and terminate at Subedarganj station until April 30. The Subedarganj-PDU MEMU will run to Chivki on April 30.
