Beirut:  Israel attacked Hezbollah targets in Beirut in revenge for the killing of 12 children. The Israeli army said on Tuesday that the terrorist commander responsible for the rocket attack on the Golan Heights has been targeted.The most senior Hezbollah military commander, Fuad Shukr, was killed in the Israeli attack, the IDF said in a statement.Lebanon's state-run National News Agency said one woman was killed and several others were injured in the attack. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

Lebanon condemns Israeli attack

Last week, 12 children were killed in a rocket attack on the Golan Heights. Israel has blamed the terrorist group Hezbollah for the rocket attack. However, Hezbollah has denied any role in the attack. Lebanon has condemned the Israeli attack.

Lebanon's Foreign Minister Abdullah Habib said his government was preparing to lodge a complaint with the United Nations. Russia has called the Israeli attack on Beirut a violation of international law. Russia's state news agency TASS reported that the shelling in Lebanon's capital Beirut was a "gross violation of international law".

Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel are expected to increase

Meanwhile, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said the US does not believe a war between Hezbollah and Israel is inevitable. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said he is concerned about the possibility of escalation of tensions between Hezbollah and Israel. However, he believes the conflict can be prevented. Conflict is not inevitable.

"Hezbollah has crossed the red line," Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant posted on X after Tuesday's attack. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office has yet to issue a statement. Israeli airstrikes hit a Hezbollah stronghold south of Beirut on Tuesday evening, according to Hezbollah's TV station. Several buildings were damaged in the attack. 

Israel killed Hezbollah commander

Lebanon's official National News Agency said the Israeli airstrikes targeted the area around Hezbollah's Shura Council in the capital. The IDF said in a statement that Fuad Shukr, the most senior Hezbollah military commander, was killed in the Israeli attack. Lebanon's official National News Agency reported that the airstrike in a southern Beirut suburb was carried out using drones.

Rockets fired again on Israel from Lebanon

The Israeli army has said that rockets were fired again from Lebanon on Tuesday, killing an Israeli civilian. On the other hand, Israeli security forces returned after a week-long siege of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. Thousands of displaced people have returned to their homes after the withdrawal of troops.

Israel carried out airstrikes in Younis Khan throughout the week, claiming to have killed more than 150 Hamas fighters during the period. According to Israel's N12 report, 10 rockets were fired from Lebanon on Tuesday, one of which hit Kibbutz HaGoshrim, killing one person.
