Washington. India UNSC Membership. Talks are going on regarding India's permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). France has supported India for permanent membership. French President Emmanuel Macron has supported India's claim for permanent membership in the UNSC.

"We have a Security Council, which we need to make more effective. France is in favour of expanding the Security Council. Germany, Japan, India and Brazil should be permanent members," Macron said at the Joint General Assembly in New York on Wednesday.

India is a temporary member of the UNSC

Let us tell you that currently there are five permanent members in the Security Council, which includes Russia, Britain, China, France and the US. At the same time, there are 10 temporary members, which also includes India. Last time in 2021-22, India sat as a temporary member in the United Nations High Council.

Global institutions need reform: PM Modi

A few days ago, while addressing the 'Summit of the Future' program, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that global reform is necessary for peace.

PM Modi had said that while on the one hand terrorism remains a serious threat to global peace and security, on the other hand cyber security, maritime and space are emerging as new areas of conflict.
