News Topical, Digital Desk : Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Uttar Pradesh Government Suresh Kumar Khanna said in the Assembly on Monday that Samajwadi Party (SP) does not want the House to function. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey accused the government of dogmatism. Khanna said amid uproar and sloganeering by SP members in the House on the first day of the monsoon session of the Assembly, "SP does not want the House to function. We are ready to answer."

Some SP MLAs had given a special notice in the assembly to discuss issues of public interest such as flood and unemployment. This notice was given under Rule-56, which is used in the assembly in such a situation when a member wants that the normal proceedings of the house be stopped and an important public issue be discussed.

However, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana did not immediately accept this notice. He asked the SP MLAs to first clarify that the issue is so important and urgent (demanding immediate attention).

Mahana made repeated requests

Mahana repeatedly requested the SP members to present their views under Rule 56, but they kept raising slogans. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey alleged that the House was not functioning due to the government's stubbornness.

Pandey said that if issues like flood, electricity and unemployment are not being discussed, then it is the government's responsibility. Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Khanna, while replying to Pandey, said, 'SP does not want the House to function. We are ready to answer.'

Referring to the team of ministers formed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for flood relief and rescue, he said, 'The government is continuously providing relief.' He said that those who have suffered losses are being compensated and its assessment is also being done.

Four bills introduced

Four bills including the Uttar Pradesh Repeal Bill, 2025 were introduced in the state assembly on Monday, the first day of the monsoon session. This information was given in a statement. Uttar Pradesh Repeal Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Private University (Amendment) Bill, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Private University (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025 and Uttar Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation (Amendment) Bill, 2025 were introduced in the assembly by the respective ministers.
