Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has supported this joint statement and thanked the European countries for supporting Ukraine.

Zelensky wants to participate in Putin-Trump talks

Zelensky has said in a statement posted on Instagram that the end of the war is a good thing and he is grateful to all those who stand with Ukraine and its citizens. This solidarity is necessary for the security interests of European countries. On receiving the news of bilateral talks between Trump and Putin, Zelensky reacted sharply on Saturday and demanded to include Ukraine in the talks.

There was talk of not leaving any territory of Ukraine and not ending the war. But on Sunday, Zelensky gave a balanced statement and spoke in favor of peace. US President Donald Trump is going to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in the US state of Alaska on August 15 as part of efforts to end the Ukraine war.

Giving up Ukrainian land is like supporting Russia: European countries

Earlier, as US President, Joe Biden met Russian President Putin in June 2021. According to the White House, Trump had planned to include Ukrainian President Zelensky in the bilateral talks, but due to Putin's unwillingness, the talks to be held on Friday will now be between Trump and Putin only.

Ukraine and its European allies have said that agreeing to abandon Ukrainian territory would be tantamount to supporting Russian aggression, sending the wrong message and increasing future risks.
