This film was considered to be the most awaited comeback of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. But after the Pahagam attack, a ban was imposed on Pakistani artists and due to that the film was not released in India. But now the makers have decided to release it.

when will abir movie be released

According to a recent report by Biz Asia, Abir Gulaal will now officially have its world premiere on August 29. But it will be releasing overseas only and not in India. Abir Gulaal's journey to the big screen has not been easy at all. The film, which was scheduled to release in the country on May 9, has faced repeated setbacks, especially after the horrific Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Its release in India was banned following the incident.

Followed the strategy of Sardar Ji 3

The makers of Abir Gulaal have adopted the strategy of Diljit Dosanjh's Sardar Ji 3. Actually, the same controversy arose due to the presence of Haniya in Diljit's film and it was not being allowed to release in India. Then the makers released it overseas on 27 June 2025. Although many people opposed this decision of the makers, but now the film has performed well overseas. Now the makers of Abir Gulaal are also going to follow the same path.

The world premiere of the film has been confirmed in a Biz Asia report. Due to the political tension between India and Pakistan, the film is unlikely to release in the country. However, no official statement has come from the makers on this yet.

Vani had supported Diljit

Diljit Dosanjh's film Sardar Ji 3 had Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in it, which led to a demand for boycott of the film. The move sparked a debate on the internet. Abir Gulaal star Vaani Kapoor supported Diljit. She said in an interview, 'I think his film must have been shot before the attack and being a producer, his money must be stuck. The situation was different at the time of shooting the film and it is different now'.

Vaani further said, 'I don't think he had any intention to disrespect the country. He is a global star and he did what he felt was right. But I don't think any law has been broken'.
