Hepatitis D (HDV)-
- It only occurs to people who are already infected with hepatitis B.
- This can cause serious liver disease.
Hepatitis E (HEV)-
- It spreads by drinking contaminated water.
- This can be dangerous for pregnant women.
Ways to prevent hepatitis
- Vaccines- Vaccines are available for hepatitis A and B. Children and at-risk adults should get these vaccines.
- Take care of hygiene- Always drink clean water and eat clean food. Also, wash hands thoroughly with soap, especially before eating and after using the toilet.
- Safe sex – Hepatitis B and C can be spread through unprotected sexual contact, so take protection.
- Avoid infected blood – use disposable injections and don't use someone else's razor or toothbrush.
- Avoid alcohol and drugs- Alcohol damages the liver, which increases the risk of hepatitis. Also, drugs also cause damage to the liver.
