
News Topical, Digital Desk : More than 3.77 lakh people have visited the holy cave during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra 2025 since it began on July 3. On Monday ( July 28 ) , a new batch of 1,635 pilgrims left for the valley from Jammu , while the Chhari Sthapana ceremony was held at the Sri Amareshwar Temple inside the Dashnami Akhara Bhawan in Srinagar yesterday .
Officials said the Chhari Pujan would be celebrated on 'Naag Panchami ' on July 29 at the same temple in Srinagar, while the final journey of the Chhari Mubarak would begin towards the holy cave shrine on August 4.
Left for Baltal base camp at 3.25 am
"Today a fresh batch of 1,635 pilgrims left from Jammu in two security convoys. The first convoy of 17 vehicles carrying 374 pilgrims left for the Baltal base camp at 3.25 am, while the second convoy of 42 vehicles carrying 1,261 pilgrims left for the Pahalgam base camp at 4 am ," officials said.
The final journey will begin on August 4
The holy stick of Lord Shiva, 'Chhadi Mubarak', is traditionally installed at the Amareshwar Temple located in the Dashnami Akhara Bhawan in the Buddhshah Chowk area of Srinagar city. The journey of the Chhari Mubarak determines the destinations of the Amarnath Yatra. It will start its final journey from the Amareshwar Temple in Srinagar towards the Amarnath cave temple on August 4 and will reach the holy cave temple on August 9 , which will be the official conclusion of the yatra.
During its journey from its location to the Holy Cave Shrine, traditional pujas will be conducted at Pampore , Bijbehara , Mattan and Pahalgam , after which the Chhari Mubarak will reach its final destination, the Holy Cave Shrine .

The Lt Governor wished all the pilgrims a safe and spiritually satisfying yatra. Manoj Sinha also appreciated the work done by Baba Amarnath and Budha Amarnath Yatri Nyas, Tourism Department, District Administration, other stakeholders and organisations providing langar service. He further said that all arrangements have been made for the annual pilgrimage and Budha Amarnath Ji Mela. He said that till now more than 3.77 lakh devotees have completed the Amarnath Yatra.
