
News Topical, Digital Desk : The Rajasthan High Court on Monday (July 28) heard the much-discussed Kankani blackbuck hunting case, in which various appeals related to film actor Salman Khan and other film stars were discussed.
Now the next hearing date of this case has been fixed as 22 September 2025. In the coming days, regular hearing will be done on this matter and further action in this case will move towards the conclusion.
During the hearing held on Monday (28 July) in the High Court bench headed by Justice Manoj Garg, the appeals filed by the government, Vishnoi community and Salman Khan were jointly considered. All the appeals have been listed together and the date of the next hearing has been announced.
What is the matter?
This case is of the year 1998, when actor Salman Khan was accused of hunting two blackbucks during the shooting of the film 'Hum Saath Saath Hain' in Kankani village near Jodhpur. The lower court had sentenced Salman Khan to 5 years imprisonment in this case, while actors Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, and Dushyant Singh were acquitted giving them the benefit of doubt.
Government appeal and 'leave to appeal' matter
The government could not appeal against the other acquitted accused on time, after which the government filed a petition in the court for "leave to appeal". This petition has also now been linked with the cases related to Salman Khan. Senior advocate Mahipal Vishnoi argued on behalf of the Vishnoi community, while advocate Hastimal Saraswat on behalf of Salman Khan demanded transfer from the lower court to the High Court, which was accepted.
Hearing will be held on September 22
Salman Khan has got bail after the sentence. These days Salman Khan is out on bail in the blackbuck hunting case. Now all the appeals will be heard again in the High Court on 22 September 2025 to decide in which direction the further action will be taken in this case.
