Not Dhanush, Ranbir Kapoor was going to play Sonam Kapoor's 'Raanjhanaa', know why he was replaced from the film

News Topical, Digital Desk : Dhanush made his Bollywood debut with the movie Raanjhanaa. Today, whenever any of his best films is talked about, it is definitely mentioned. His performance as Kundan, who is in love with Zoya, was so powerful that he is praised for it even today.

But do you know that Dhanush  was not the first choice for Raanjhanaa  . Yes, Anand L Rai had first chosen Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor for this film. Why Ranbir could not join the film, the director has recently revealed this.

The director wanted to make Ranbir Kundan

Anand L Rai directed Raanjhanaa. When he was making the film, his first choice was Ranbir Kapoor. He was looking for a grounded actor for the role of Kundan. He saw this talent in Ranbir. But when this was not possible, this role fell into Dhanush's lap.

Why did Ranbir leave the film?

Once  Anand L Rai  himself revealed this in an interview given to Bollywood Hungama. He said, “I believe that an actor who keeps himself simple and blends in with the crowd, which is a difficult task, is Ranbir Kapoor but he was not available at that time. When we were looking for such an actor, we found Dhanush.”

Anand L Rai and Dhanush have worked together in films like Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re. Both the films have been well liked. Raanjhanaa is counted among the classic cult movies. Now once again both are going to set the big screen on fire. After four years, Anand L Rai is going to work with Dhanush for the third time. Their upcoming film is Tere Ishq Mein in which Kriti Sanon is in the lead role opposite Dhanush. This film will also be released in theaters on 28 November 2025.
