News Topical, Digital Desk : A massive fire broke out on Friday morning, January 9, in the temporary shelters set up for pilgrims near the Kapil Muni Temple in Gangasagar. According to local sources, the fire broke out around 5 a.m. Several fire engines are working to extinguish the flames. No injuries have been reported so far.

Fire department vehicles reached the spot

Some people on a morning walk saw flames rising from one camp, which quickly engulfed the surrounding camps. This caused panic. Locals initially tried to douse the fire with water, but the fire continued to spread.

Meanwhile, several fire engines arrived at the scene one after another and began extinguishing the blaze. The fire department initially suspects the incident was caused by a short circuit or someone lighting a fire to protect themselves from the cold.

Fire breaks out before Sagar Mela

Upon receiving news of the fire, Sagar's Block Development Officer, Kanhaiya Kumar Rao, and other administrative officials arrived at the scene. It's worth noting that the Sagar Mela is scheduled to be held here in the next few days, where millions of pilgrims from across the country and the world come every year on Makar Sankranti.
