On Friday, maximum temperature of 44 degrees Celsius or more was recorded at 22 places across the country. Ganganagar in Rajasthan recorded the highest temperature of 49.4 degrees Celsius this season, which is eight degrees above normal. A large number of people have fallen ill due to humidity and heat.
17 people died in Uttar Pradesh and two in Punjab
Due to heat, 17 people died in Uttar Pradesh and two in Punjab. In some places, the weather changed and rain and thunderstorms also occurred. Due to this, three people died in Uttar Pradesh and two in Uttarakhand. According to IMD, the heat conditions will continue for at least two more days. However, there has been a slight decrease in temperature in Delhi.
In UP, the temperature in Agra reached 45 degrees Celsius on Friday, while Jhansi recorded 44.9, Banda 44.6, Hamirpur 44.2 and Lucknow 44 degrees Celsius.
17 people died in Kanpur and surrounding districts
Due to humidity and heat, 17 people have died in Kanpur and nearby districts. In Kanpur, the bodies of six people including two women were found on the roadside. The bodies of four people were found in the Kanpur Central Station premises. An orange alert has been issued for heat wave in 11 districts.
A woman died due to lightning in Rampur
The effect of heat wave is reducing in the districts of Purvanchal from Central UP. There has been rain in districts like Moradabad, Amroha, Sambhal, Rampur, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur. A woman died due to lightning in Rampur.
In Ambedkar Nagar, two people including a girl died after being struck by lightning during rain. In Kanpur, a 50-year-old rickshaw driver collapsed on the road after drinking water and was declared dead in the hospital.
Weather changed in Punjab in the evening
Two more people died due to heat wave in Punjab, but the weather changed in the evening. Strong winds blew and light rain occurred in many districts, bringing relief from the heat. The day temperature in Bathinda was recorded at 46 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Sirsa, Haryana reached 47.6 degrees Celsius.
Madhya Pradesh also witnessed high temperatures. Khajuraho recorded 45.0 degrees Celsius, Narmadapuram 44.4 degrees Celsius and Gwalior 44.5 degrees Celsius. In the national capital Delhi, the temperature ranged between 36 and 42 degrees Celsius, but the scorching heat reached 50.3 degrees Celsius.
Disaster rained in Uttarakhand, rain in Himachal too
Heavy rains in Uttarakhand brought relief as well as disaster. A woman and a young man died due to lightning in Laksar, Haridwar. Railway track remained blocked due to rain in Kotdwar, which affected the movement of trains. Two hundred passengers were stranded for four hours due to debris at two places of Tawaghat-Lipulekh (Adi Kailash Marg) road being blocked due to heavy rains in Pithoragarh.
Snowfall in Kunjum, Rohtang Pass
Debris has entered the shops and hotels of Tallital market in Nainital. Rainfall occurred in Kangra, Shimla, Solan, Mandi, Kullu, Una, Chamba, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and other places in Himachal. Snowfall has occurred in the high peaks of the state Baralacha, Kunjum, Rohtang Pass.
