News Topical, Digital Desk : Just before the Assam and West Bengal assembly elections, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has announced strict action against infiltrators.
Addressing a public meeting after laying the foundation stone of the headquarters of the 10th Battalion of Assam Police in Kamrup, Assam, Shah, referring to the removal of names of infiltrators from the voters' list in the SIR, said, "If our party forms the government, in the next five years we will not only remove the infiltrators from the voters' list but also from the country."
Responding to the opposition's attacks against the SIR, Amit Shah said that the country will definitely be free of infiltrators. He said that eradicating infiltrators is essential to making Assam a peaceful state. Just as the country is becoming Maoist-free, the entire country, including Assam, will also become infiltrator-free.
He accused the Congress of sheltering infiltrators.
He accused the Congress party of harboring infiltrators. Shah said the opposition party had given Assam's fertile land away by allowing infiltrators. This had damaged the identity of the Assamese community and endangered its cultural heritage.
He accused the Congress party of damaging the three pillars of caste, soil, and bheti (cultural foundations). He said the BJP government would liberate Assam from the opposition party's sins.
Shah praised the work done by the BJP government over the past 10 years to curb infiltration and free land from infiltrators. He said that the 174 acres of land on which the headquarters of the 10th Battalion of the Assam Police is being built was also previously occupied by infiltrators and was freed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Citing Prime Minister Modi's 80 visits to the Northeast over the past 11 years, Shah said that Northeast India has been a priority for the Modi government, while the opposition has always left the Northeast to its fate. With the BJP government in power, Assam is poised to become an industrial hub for Eastern India and the entire Northeast within the next five years.
The Home Minister reiterated that the country will be free from Maoist violence before March 31.
Addressing the CRPF's 864th Raising Day celebrations in Guwahati, Amit Shah once again claimed the country would be Maoist-free by March 31st. He praised the CRPF's crucial role in combating Maoism, as well as in establishing peace by eliminating terrorism in Kashmir and insurgency in the Northeast. Describing the CRPF's Raising Day in Guwahati as significant, he said it was being celebrated for the first time in Northeast India.
