Yemen's Houthi rebels have claimed that the US has carried out an airstrike on the Ras Issa oil port. At least 38 people have been reported dead in this attack.

The US Army's Central Command has also confirmed these attacks. The US has bombed the Houthis-occupied Ras Issa port. The attack was so deadly that 38 people lost their lives.

US attack against Houthi rebels continues

After receiving instructions from US President Donald Trump, the US Army has been carrying out continuous attacks on Houthi rebels since 15th. So far, the Ras Issa oil port was the biggest attack in the attacks carried out by the US Army and it has caused the most deaths.

The main objective of the attack

According to Al Masirah TV, the US military said the main objective of the attacks was to cut off the source of fuel for the Houthi rebels. 102 people have also been reported injured in this attack.

"These strikes were aimed at reducing the economic source of power of the Houthis, who exploit and inflict pain on their fellow countrymen," the US Central Command said in a post on X.

The Houthis had targeted the ships

Since November 2023, the Houthis have carried out dozens of drone and missile attacks on ships passing through the waterway, saying they were targeting Israeli ships in protest against the war in Gaza.

They halted attacks on shipping lanes during a two-month ceasefire in Gaza. Although they vowed to resume attacks after Israel resumed its assault on Gaza last month, they have not claimed any since.

50 people died in the attack in March

Thursday's attack was one of the deadliest since the US launched its biggest military campaign against the Houthis in the Middle East since President Donald Trump took office in January. Houthi officials said more than 50 people were killed in two days of US strikes in March.
