News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump on Friday claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin is providing "somewhat" assistance to Iran. Trump said he believes Putin is quietly assisting Tehran in its ongoing war against the US and Israel, though he described it as ineffective.

When asked by a media person, "Do you think Putin is helping them?" Trump replied, "I think he's helping them a little bit, yes... And they probably think we're helping Ukraine, right?" Trump further said that it's a kind of "tit for tat," where Russia helps Iran because the US is helping Ukraine. He added, "China would say the same thing."

This comment comes at a time when the conflict between America, Israel and Iran has entered its third week.

According to reports, Russia shared intelligence with Iran that led Tehran to attack US bases in the Gulf region, killing at least 7 American soldiers. Trump warned of "intensifying" attacks on Iran and said the US would respond "very forcefully."

Trump recently had a phone conversation with Putin, proposing transferring Iran's highly enriched uranium to Russia to end the war, but Trump rejected it.

Additionally, a temporary 30-day relaxation of sanctions on Russian oil has been granted to control global oil prices, allowing Brent crude prices to stabilize around $99.80 per barrel, but still up 40% since the conflict began.
