News Topical, Digital Desk : The Bharatiya Janata Party is once again working on a strategy to strengthen its hold in Uttar Pradesh politics, capitalizing on the role of OBC voters. The BJP is launching a new campaign to woo over 30 of the 75 OBC communities, which are backward castes, and is also preparing to increase social engagement

SP's PDA move has had a major impact on state politics.

In fact, since 2014, the BJP has received significant support from OBC votes, helping it win power in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. However, the SP's PDA (Backward-Dalit-Minority) strategy in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has had a significant impact on Uttar Pradesh politics. This strategy resulted in the BJP losing seats in the state. While the party won 62 seats in 2019, it was reduced to just 33 in the 2024 elections.

This time, the BJP is primarily focusing on castes like Maurya, Kurmi, Kashyap, Kushwaha, Nishad, Rajbhar, Saini, Pal, and Prajapati to expand its vote bank. These communities are considered to have significant influence in several districts and assembly constituencies. Meanwhile, the party's OBC Morcha is organizing events in various districts, featuring prominent social figures from these castes.

Union Minister Pankaj Chaudhary has been given the responsibility of handling OBC votes.

This time, the BJP has entrusted Union Minister and Kurmi community member Pankaj Chaudhary with the responsibility of mobilizing OBC votes. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is already a prominent figure in the state government. Recently, the national convention of the BJP's Backward Classes Front was held in Lucknow. It was chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya, while the Front's national president, Narendra Kumar Kashyap, played a key role in organizing the event. Through this convention, the party clearly indicated that backward classes will be a key focus for the BJP in the upcoming elections.

Several central and state-level ministers of the party are currently visiting various districts. These programs are connecting local OBC community leaders with social and religious leaders. Leaders say that backward classes constitute more than 50 percent of the national and state population, and the focus is on more than 30 castes that can influence election results.
