News Topical, Digital Desk : The number of districts in Delhi has increased. Previously, the national capital had 11 districts, which has now increased to 13. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the boundaries of revenue districts and municipal corporations will now be consistent, making governance more efficient. The Chief Minister added that her government resolved a long-standing problem in just 10 months. This decision will increase transparency and accountability.

The decades-old confusion over jurisdiction between revenue districts and MCD zones in Delhi will now end. Under this reform, the number of subdivisions will increase from 33 to 39, and the number of sub-registrar offices will increase from 22 to 39. Mini-secretariats will be established in all 13 districts to provide one-stop public service. A gazette notification to implement this will be issued within 15 days, and it will be fully operational by December 2025.

An initial budget of ₹25 crore has been approved, which will be spent in the current financial year. The Delhi government said that this reform will make life easier, speed up service delivery, and ensure smooth coordination in land records, property registration, civic services, and grievance redressal.

Regarding this decision, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that "One Delhi, One Border, One Window" makes the government closer and easier for every citizen. Southeast Delhi includes Jangpura, Kalkaji, and Badarpur tehsils. Old Delhi includes Sadar Bazaar and Chandni Chowk, and North Delhi includes Burari, Adarsh ​​Nagar, and Badli. New Delhi includes Delhi Cantt and New Delhi, and Central Delhi includes Patel Nagar and Karol Bagh.
