News Topical, Digital Desk : Sonam, the prime accused in the Raja Raghuvanshi murder case, has spent a month in jail. Sonam, along with her lover Raj, had planned to kill her husband Raja. After this, they hired a contract killer to kill him during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. Now a media report has claimed that Sonam has spent a month in jail, but does not talk to anyone. No member of her family has come to meet her, whereas according to the jail rules, Sonam's family members can meet her.
NDTV's report quoted sources as saying that Sonam neither talks to any fellow inmates nor has her family come to meet her. Sonam is also being monitored through CCTV cameras. She is lodged in Shillong jail. There is another female prisoner in the same jail, who is lodged on murder charges. There are a total of 496 prisoners in the jail, of which 20 are women. The report further said that Sonam has not expressed any regret for her actions.
Do not talk about your crime
The report states that Sonam has adjusted to the prison environment and has mingled well with fellow female inmates. However, she does not talk about her crime and personal life to her fellow inmates or the jail administration. Sonam is reportedly living near the jail warden's office and shares a room with two undertrial female prisoners. According to NDTV report, the murder accused follows the jail manual and wakes up at a decent time every morning. She has been given access to watch TV daily. Though she has not been assigned any specific work inside the jail, sources said she will be taught sewing work.
Allegations by Raja's family
Raja Raghuvanshi's family has claimed that Sonam's family has spoken to her four times since she went to jail. Raja's brother Vipin Raghuvanshi accused Sonam's brother Govind of falsely pretending to be sympathetic by being in touch with his sister. According to Amar Ujala's report, Vipin alleged that Govind was showing sympathy towards his family while he and his parents were helping Sonam.
Brother Govind is against Sonam
Vipin claimed, "I think Sonam and Govind have been in talks for the last four weeks. The whole family is involved. They have hired a lawyer and are actively trying for bail." Govind has spoken out against Sonam several times in the past and has supported Raja's family's demand for justice. "If she is found guilty, she should be given the death penalty," Govind had earlier said.
