News Topical, Digital Desk : Amarnath Dham is a place of religious importance for the devotees and the journey here is a journey of virtue for them. Starting from Ashadh Purnima to Raksha Bandhan, the holy ice lingam darshan takes place here throughout the month of Saavan. This Shivling is formed naturally.

Some people believe that a drop of water falls in the cave and it takes the shape of a solid ice Shivling of about 12 to 18 feet high. But the question is that when the ice starts melting in summer, how is the Himling formed? Why doesn't it melt?

Why is Himling not formed in other caves?

If this is accepted as true, then the next question is that there are other caves there, but why is Shivling not formed there? Let us tell you that the length of the Amarnath cave, located at a height of 3888 meters above sea level, is 19 meters, width 16 meters and height 11 meters.

The ice lingam of Amarnath is formed from the drops of water falling into the cave from the holes in the mountain. But, it is surprising that how does this Shivlinga get formed at a fixed time? Even science has not been able to completely solve the mystery of the Shivlinga of Amarnath till date.

Shivling grows with the moon

Akbar's historian Abul Fazal wrote Aina-e-Akbari in the 16th century. In this he said that Amarnath is a holy pilgrimage site. A bubble of ice in the cave grows a little bit every day for 15 days and becomes more than two yards high.

As the moon wanes, the Shivlinga also starts to diminish and disappears on the new moon night. The Himalinga grows with the phases of the moon and disappears with it. The moon is believed to be related to Shiva. The story of Somnath Jyotirlinga is also related to the curse given to the moon by Daksha Prajapati.
