News Topical, Digital Desk : An awkward situation unfolded at an international forum in Turkmenistan when Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while attempting to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, accidentally walked into a closed-door meeting. The moment was captured on camera and sparked mockery on social media.
This major international forum was held on December 12th to mark the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. Shahbaz Sharif's bilateral meeting with Putin was scheduled during this event. However, the meeting did not begin until late in the day. It was reported that Sharif and Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar waited in a separate room for approximately 40 minutes.
There was a hurry to meet Putin
According to reports, after a long wait, Sharif decided to meet Putin for at least a few minutes. In his haste, he entered the room where Putin was holding closed-door talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Sharif emerged from the scene about 10 minutes later. After the video surfaced, many social media users called it a " diplomatic misstep " and heavily trolled the Pakistani Prime Minister.
A video shared by RT India showed Sharif inadvertently interrupting the meeting. Several users took a jab at Sharif. One wrote that Putin doesn't waste time on beggars. Another user commented that Trump used to do the same thing to him.
Why was the forum organized ?
The forum was held to mark 30 years of Turkmenistan's official permanent neutrality, which was unanimously approved by the United Nations General Assembly on December 12, 1995. According to this, Turkmenistan abstains from military alliances, does not engage in any conflict, and does not allow foreign military bases on its territory.
