News Topical, Digital Desk : The Yogi government has termed the news circulating on social media regarding the minimum wage of workers being fixed at Rs 20,000 per month as completely misleading and baseless.

The government has clarified that no such official announcement has been made and the public needs to be cautious of such rumours.

The government has appealed to citizens and labour organisations to trust only government portals and official releases instead of unverified information going viral on social media, so that no confusion arises.

The state government has also made it clear that it is continuously taking steps for the interests of workers while remaining within the ambit of the new labour laws.

The government said – do not spread rumours

According to the government, a special 'Wage Board' is to be constituted next month, on the basis of whose recommendations the process of determining minimum wages will be carried forward in a scientific and legal manner in the future.

Workers' wages increased by 21 percent

It should be noted that following protests in Gautam Buddha Nagar, the state government has decided to provide an interim 21 percent increase in workers' wages, effective April 1. Workers in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad have received the largest increase of 21 percent in wages (including basic salary and dearness allowance).

It has been decided to increase the interim wage rates by 15 percent in other municipal corporation districts and by about 10 percent in the remaining districts.

Minimum wages are the same across the state

Currently, the minimum wage rates are the same in all districts across the state: Rs 11,313 per month and Rs 435.14 per day for unskilled workers, Rs 12,445 per month and Rs 478.69 per day for semi-skilled workers, and Rs 13,940 per month and Rs 536.16 per day for skilled workers. These rates were recently implemented.

The interim rates fixed by the government in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad have now been fixed at Rs 13,690 for unskilled workers, Rs 15,059 for semi-skilled workers and Rs 16,868 for skilled workers.
