News Topical, Digital Desk : The government has attempted to ban pornographic websites several times, but without success. Amidst all this, the central government is now preparing to ban content that uses terms related to incest within relationships.
The government aims to soon issue guidelines to service providers (ISPs) to ban such words coined for relationships and related content.
'It is not easy to completely ban such content'
An IT ministry official said that in addition to child pornography, there is a wide range of other pornographic content available on the internet that is not classified as illegal internationally. Officials said that it is difficult to completely ban this type of content in India.
IT Ministry officials stated that the government periodically bans such content as needed. However, given the international nature of technology and the internet, banning approximately 40 million such websites is not an easy task.
The government will soon issue guidelines.
According to an official familiar with the matter, ISPs are in constant discussion with the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team and international organisations to completely ban such content.
It's worth noting that guidelines are likely to be issued soon to ban content containing terms used to describe sexual relationships, which are considered taboo in Indian society. It's worth noting that many such terms have already been blocked, and subsequent viewership has declined. To address this, content creators are creating content by changing their names. Efforts will be made to ban such content as well.
