News Topical, Digital Desk : In the popular series Family Man 3, Sharib Hashmi plays the role of JK Talpade, the best friend of Manoj Bajpayee's character, Shrikant Tiwari, and an intelligence officer. In the latest season of the series, Sharib is shown going on several arranged marriage dates. However, in real life, he is not single at all and gives full credit for his success to his wife, Nasreen. Recently, Sharib made some surprising revelations about his personal life, in which he explained how his wife helped him fulfill his dreams despite having cancer.

quit job for acting

Sharib and Nasreen married in 2003, and in 2009, he left his job as an in-house writer at MTV to pursue a career in films. In an interview, Sharib revealed that he quit after being rejected for a role in Dhobhi Ghat. Sharib wanted to try his hand at films, auditioned, and was also responsible for his wife and child. His savings began to run out, and he had to ask friends for loans. No one helped him, but Nasreen supported him.

Sharib said, “My wife supported me a lot during that difficult time. She sold her jewellery to arrange food for the family. We even sold our house to make ends meet. Over time, my hope started to fade. There was a time when I wasn't sure what I would feed my family for their next meal. She sold all her jewellery so that I could pursue my acting dreams without worrying about food. Eventually, we had to sell our house too. But I didn't give up.”

Sharib's wife had cancer.

The actor described his wife as a pillar of support despite battling cancer. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sharib recounted how his wife's oral cancer diagnosis didn't affect her outlook on life. The actor recalled that while things were improving professionally, Nasreen battled cancer. He said his wife is strong-willed and courageous, having undergone four surgeries and recovering within three to four days each. He added that Nasreen has a will to live for her children and for him.

Casting director Shanoo Sharma saw Sharib's work and he was selected for SRK, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif's film 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', which was released in 2012. Sharib said, "When I wasn't achieving those dreams, I decided to put my acting dreams aside. I got busy on television with MTV's 'Bakra' and other spoofy things. I got married and had a child. So I had to bury my dreams alive, but with my wife's support, I pursued my dreams again."
