News Topical, Digital Desk : Deputy Chief of Army Staff (DCOAS) Lt Gen Rakesh Kapoor said that the Army will launch a first-of-its-kind internship programme to provide opportunities to youth in areas like technology, cyber skills, AI and drones.

He also said that the Indian Army is recruiting women as soldiers from the Northeast and Ladakh regions. Their presence has been impressive. The Indian Army is using indigenous armored vehicles and ATVs in UN peacekeeping operations.

The Vice Chief of Army Staff said, “The Army Internship Programme is an effort to provide the youth of the country an opportunity to work with our Army in a mutually beneficial manner in various fields such as technology (cyber, AI, drones, etc.), mass communication and accounting. An internship with the Army is a memorable entry in anyone's CV.”

When asked about the recruitment of women in the Territorial Army, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff said, “That's correct. This recruitment falls under the 'Other Ranks' category, which pertains to soldiers. Under this initiative, the first batch of women soldiers is being recruited through the Territorial Army, which is being conducted in the Northeast and Ladakh. The enthusiasm and turnout of women candidates has been impressive. Therefore, we plan to include women in the next phase of recruitment as well.”

He also said that India has strengthened the security, mobility and logistics arrangements of its troops deployed in UN peacekeeping operations, including the deployment of indigenous platforms like armoured vehicles and ATVs.
