New Delhi: The protests against reservation by students in Bangladesh for the past few days suddenly took a violent turn. After this, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned from her post and left the country and came to India. Meanwhile, there is news that Hindus are also being targeted in Bangladesh. India is alert about this.

Isha Foundation spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev on Wednesday urged the Indian government to "take immediate action" to protect minorities in Bangladesh.

Houses of Hindus were looted in 27 districts

Local media in Bangladesh had claimed that houses and business establishments of Hindus were attacked by mobs and their valuables were also looted in at least 27 districts.

Sadhguru's reaction comes at a time when yoga guru Ramdev on Tuesday condemned the targeted attacks on homes, temples and business establishments of Hindus in Bangladesh and urged the Center to do everything possible diplomatically and politically to protect Hindu minorities in the neighboring country.

Sadhguru said that the atrocities against Hindus are not just an internal matter of Bangladesh. He said, India cannot become Maha-Bharat if we do not stand up and take action at the earliest to ensure the safety of minorities in our neighbourhood.

Sharing a news report on the social media platform X, Sadhguru wrote, What was a part of this nation, unfortunately became a neighbourhood, but it is our responsibility to save these people - who truly belong to this civilisation - from these atrocities.

A mob vandalised and looted the house of Pradip Chandra Roy, secretary of the Lalmonirhat Puja Udjapan Parishad, at Telipara village in Bangladesh's Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila on Monday evening, the Daily Star reported.

According to reports, the mob also vandalised and looted the computer shop of Muhin Roy, a municipal member of the district's Puja Udyog Parishad, on Thana Road.

Besides, houses of four Hindu families were vandalised and looted in Chandrapur village of Kaliganj upazila of the district. Reports claimed that houses of 12 Hindus were set on fire in Purbo Sardubi village of Hatibandha upazila last night.

These well-planned attacks are shameful: Ramdev

Ramdev described these “planned” attacks by radical forces as “shameful and dangerous” and called on India to take all possible steps to protect itself from them.

"I am afraid that India will have to be cautious so that the honour and dignity of the mothers, sisters and daughters of our Hindu brothers is not at stake. The whole country will have to stand with full force with our minority Hindu brothers," Ramdev told news agency ANI.

Pointing to India's role in the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, Ramdev said, "We had helped in the creation of Bangladesh; if we could create Bangladesh, we should show our strength in protecting the Hindus living there."

Some people are trying to spread unrest in India- Ramdev

The co-founder of Patanjali Ayurveda said that some people in India are trying to create unrest by raising issues of caste, religion and reservation.

He said such efforts were a "threat to the unity and integrity of the country. We must strongly counter these efforts".

According to reports, extremist forces in Bangladesh are taking advantage of the emerging political situation to target Hindu minorities.

The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council (BHBCUC) has said that around 200-300 Hindu homes and business establishments have been vandalised since Sheikh Hasina fled to India on Monday. The group told news agency Reuters that around 15-20 temples have been attacked and 40 people have been injured.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also gave a statement on the developments in Bangladesh and expressed concern over the safety of Hindu minorities there.
