New Delhi: Heavy rains in many states of the country have increased the problems of people. Due to heavy rains in Gujarat, low lying areas of many districts have been submerged. Heavy rains in Rajasthan have also disrupted normal life. People have faced problems due to rains in Delhi, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Heavy rainfall continues at many places in Uttarakhand. In Tripura, about 26 people have died due to floods since August 19. While 1.17 lakh people have become homeless. The situation in Navsari and Valsad districts of Gujarat has worsened due to the rising water level of the rivers. The search is on for seven people who were swept away along with a tractor trolley while crossing a submerged bridge in Morbi district.
Many villages of Gujarat and Saurashtra affected by floods
23 gates of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Dam have been opened. Three people including a woman have been reported dead in the last 24 hours. Apart from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Rajkot, many villages of South Gujarat and Saurashtra are affected by the rain.
Centre assures help to Gujarat government
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of all possible help from the central government. According to data from the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC), the highest rainfall of 356 mm was recorded in Khergam in Navsari district in the last 24 hours till 6 am on Monday.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of light to moderate rain in various parts of eastern and northeastern India, including Odisha, Bihar, Bengal, Meghalaya and Mizoram.

Cloud burst in Jammu's Ramban district, mother and two children missing. A mother and two children went missing after being swept away by the strong current of water due to cloud burst in Kumate, Dharam and Halla Panchayats under Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Three vehicles were also swept away due to sudden rise in the water level of the drain. Two government buildings and many houses were badly damaged.

Rescue teams have been dispatched to save the missing children and their mother. The cloud burst occurred around 2:30 pm. Schools were closed on Monday due to Janmashtami holiday. Had there been no holiday, children and school staff would have also been caught in the flood as two government school buildings were hit by the flood.
