New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu arrived in Delhi on Friday. He is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, among other Union ministers, on Saturday.
Met Water Power Minister CR Patil
The TDP, a key NDA partner, has been seeking central aid and support to rebuild debt-ridden Andhra Pradesh. The Centre has announced Rs 15,000 crore in the Union Budget for the development of the state's new capital. Earlier, Naidu met Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil.
During this, ways to expedite the completion of Polavaram irrigation project were discussed. The project is getting delayed due to damage to the diaphragm wall of the dam being constructed on the Godavari river.
Damaged diaphragm wall to be repaired
Speaking to reporters after the hour-long meeting, state Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu said there were detailed discussions on whether the damaged diaphragm wall should be repaired or a new one constructed. There were also discussions on whether the old agency should be retained or a new agency should be engaged to complete the project on time.
