Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday levelled a serious allegation against the previous YSRCP government, saying it had used substandard material and animal fat in making the world famous Tirupati laddu, a sacred sweet.
At the Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati, run by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), laddus are given on demand. Addressing the NDA legislature party meeting, Naidu claimed that even the Tirumala laddus were made from substandard material.
They used animal fat instead of ghee. However, he further said that now pure ghee is being used. Everything in the temple has been cleaned. This has improved the quality.
YSR hits back
Senior YSR Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP YV Subba Reddy accused Naidu of harming the sanctity of the Tirumala temple. Reddy wrote in Telugu on Twitter that Chandrababu Naidu has caused serious damage to the sanctity of Tirumala and the faith of crores of Hindus. His comments about Tirumala Prasad are extremely malicious. No one should speak such words or make such allegations.
