News Topical, Digital Desk : There will be no trading in the Indian stock market today, April 14th. The National Stock Exchange (NSE Holiday) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE Holiday) are closed on April 14th due to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti. Last week, the market also saw no trading for two days. Trading was halted due to Good Friday and Mahavir Jayanti.
A total of 16 market holidays
have been scheduled for 2026. Six of these holidays have already been observed. After this closure, there will be nine remaining holidays for the year. After Ambedkar Jayanti, the next holidays will be Maharashtra Day on May 1st and Eid al-Adha on May 28th.
Share Market Holidays List
In the second half of the year, markets will be closed for Muharram on June 26, Ganesh Chaturthi on September 14, and Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. Holidays will follow for Dussehra on October 20, Diwali (Balipratipada) on November 10, and Guru Nanak Jayanti on November 24. Christmas on December 25 will be the last holiday of the year.
MCX will also be closed for trading
Commodity exchange MCX will be closed for Ambedkar Jayanti in the morning session but will reopen in the evening. NCDEX will be closed for the entire day, i.e., for both morning and evening sessions.
Four holidays in 2026 fall on weekends: Maha Shivratri on February 15, Eid al-Fitr on March 21, Independence Day on August 15, and Diwali on November 8. This year, Diwali Lakshmi Pujan falls on Sunday. The exchange will conduct Muhurat trading on this day. This will take place on November 8, with the timings to be announced later.
