The Army has placed an order with Solar Defense and Aerospace Limited (SDAL) to buy 450 Nagastra-1R. This drone developed by DRDO is capable of finding and killing the enemy. It has been prepared under the Make in India project. This will strengthen India's strategic edge against cross-border terrorism.
Nagastra is a suicide drone. Its working method is quite different from other drones. It works on 'kamikaze' mode, that is, it destroys itself after directly attacking the enemy. Nagastra is fitted with a GPS system, through which it finds its target and destroys it.

This drone hovers in the air and hits the target with utmost precision with the help of GPS system. Nagastra is an economical system, in which the launcher system can be reused. These systems have been tested at various places including Ladakh and Babina near Jhansi.
Features of Nagastra Drone
Its biggest speciality is that it can easily attack the enemy's training camp or launch pad without endangering the lives of soldiers.
This drone can fly at an altitude of more than 4,500 meters, making it difficult to detect by radar.
This loitering munition system has a 360 gimbal camera, which also has the option of installing a thermal camera for night operations.
It has the facility of cancellation and reuse.
If the target is not detected or the mission is aborted, it can be recalled and landed safely using a parachute.
Nagastra weighs about nine kilograms. It has been specially designed keeping in mind the convenience of the Army. --It has a special electric propulsion system, due to which its sound is not detected. It is almost impossible to detect its sound at an altitude of more than 200 meters.
It can hover over its target for 60 minutes. This drone can carry a one-kilogram warhead.
