News Topical, Digital Desk : US President Donald Trump has once again claimed that he had prevented the recent conflict between India and Pakistan.

He said five planes were shot down in the clash and the conflict could have turned into a "nuclear war". Trump said this at a ceremony at the White House, where he claimed that because of him wars in many countries were averted.

Trump said, “We stopped potential wars between India and Pakistan, Congo and Rwanda. Five planes were shot down in India-Pakistan, both countries were repeatedly attacking each other. I called both and said, 'Listen, there will be no trade now. If you do this, the situation will not be good.' Both countries are nuclear powers and this war could have gone somewhere else. I stopped it.”

Trump claimed that five planes were shot down

Last week too, Trump had said that "five jets" were shot down between India and Pakistan. "This confrontation was getting worse. These are both serious nuclear countries and they were attacking each other," he said at a dinner for Republican senators.

Trump also claimed that he had destroyed Iran's nuclear capability and prevented a conflict between Kosovo and Serbia. He quipped, “Could (former President Joe) Biden do this? I don't think so. Does he even know the names of these countries? I don't think so.”

What did the US envoy say in the UN on which India retaliated

During a discussion in the UN Security Council, US Ambassador Dorothy Shea said that in the last three months, the US helped reduce tensions between India-Pakistan, Israel-Iran and Congo-Rwanda. She said, “Under the leadership of President Trump, the US encouraged these countries to find peaceful solutions.”

But India rejected this claim outright. India's permanent representative Parvathaneni Harish mentioned the Pahalgam terror attack in the same meeting, for which the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba's front 'The Resistance Front' had claimed responsibility.

Harish said, "Countries which violate the spirit of neighbourhood and international relations and promote cross-border terrorism must pay a heavy price for it."
