News Topical, Digital Desk : A shooting at a mall's food court in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Friday caused panic. At least one person was killed and five others were injured. Police say the attack was not aimed at civilians, but rather the result of a dispute between two groups.
The incident began around 1:30 p.m. when an argument broke out between two groups and quickly escalated into gunfire. Initially, reports of 10 people being injured were reported, but police later clarified that only five were injured. Police Chief TJ Morse stated that five people have been taken into custody and there is no longer a threat to the public.
After the shooting, people inside the mall ran for cover. Shop employee Desire Batten said she and her colleagues immediately hid in a room and remained there until police arrived.

The incident sent panic throughout the mall. Many reported seeing people crying and running. Witness Kennedy Barnum said that as soon as the shooting was reported, security guards immediately ordered everyone to evacuate.
Police have appealed to the public to cooperate with the investigation if anyone filmed the incident. A large police presence remained outside the mall throughout the evening, with helicopters monitoring the area and continuous patrols.
The mall is closed for the entire day.
Mall spokeswoman Lindsay Kahn described the incident as a "terrifying day" and said the mall was closed for the day for safety reasons. Police are investigating the incident and looking into all aspects of the incident.
