News Topical, Digital Desk : Iran has mocked US President Donald Trump after he shared a social media post describing India and China as hell-holes.

The Iranian Consulate General in Mumbai has taken a strong dig at US President Donald Trump, strongly objecting to his racist remarks. The Iranian Consulate General in Mumbai shared a video on the social media platform X showcasing Maharashtra's rich cultural and geographical heritage.

Come and see India sometime

The Iranian Consulate General in Mumbai claimed that the state visit could be a "cultural detox" for Trump. "Come to India sometime and see, then speak. Maybe someone should book a one-way cultural sabbatical for Trump, that might cut down on the unnecessary chatter," the Iranian embassy wrote.

What is the whole matter?

The controversy began when Trump reposted a podcast by American political commentator and radio host Michael Savage, in which he referred to India, China, and other countries as "hell-pits." In his racist tirade, Savage, calling for changes to America's birthright citizenship law, alleged that people from these two Asian countries come to the US "to have a baby in the ninth month of pregnancy" and the law makes them American citizens “instantly.”

India condemned these comments, calling them ignorant, inappropriate, and offensive. Without naming Trump, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that these remarks "certainly do not reflect the reality of India-US relations, which have long been based on mutual respect and shared interests."

Ignorant, inappropriate and nasty comments

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We have seen the comments, as well as the response issued by the US Embassy. These comments are clearly ignorant, inappropriate, and derogatory. They certainly do not reflect the reality of India-US relations, which have long been based on mutual respect and shared interests."

India is a great country

However, in an attempt to defuse the situation later, the US Embassy issued a statement saying that Trump believes India is a great country led by a good friend of mine at the helm.
