News Topical, Digital Desk : The biggest news between yesterday and today was that the 14th Vice President of the country and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post. The reason for the resignation was stated to be health. Today Dhankhar's resignation was accepted. After the President's approval, the Home Ministry also issued its gazette notification and the government formalities were completed.

Where will Dhankhar stay now?

After his resignation, he will get a government bungalow in Lutyens Zone, which is considered to be one of the most posh areas of the national capital. After resigning from the post of Vice President, he will now be allotted a Type-8 category bungalow as per government rules. Under the same protocol, former Vice Presidents like Hamid Ansari and Venkaiah Naidu were allotted bungalows on Talkatora Road.

Dhankhar had shifted to Vice President Enclave last year

Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, who resigned from his post a day earlier, is entitled to a government bungalow, an official of the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry said on Tuesday. 74-year-old Dhankhar shifted to the newly built Vice President Enclave on Church Road near the Parliament House complex in April last year. VP Enclave, which houses the Vice President's residence and office, was constructed under the Central Vista Redevelopment Plan. After living in VP Enclave for about 15 months, the former Vice President will have to vacate it.

"He (Dhankhar) will be given a Type-8 bungalow in Lutyens' Delhi or some other area," the official said. Type-8 bungalows are usually allotted to senior Union ministers or presidents of national parties.

The sudden resignation has fuelled speculation

Dhankhar resigned from the post on Monday citing health reasons. Meanwhile, the Congress claimed on Tuesday that the reasons behind his resignation from the post of Vice President are "much more serious" than the health issues he stated. After Jagdeep Dhankhar's sudden resignation from the post of Vice President on Monday night, there is speculation that the reason behind this is something other than giving "priority to health".
