News Topical, Digital Desk : Delhi News: Delhi Police's Special Cell has arrested Akashdeep alias Baaz, a suspected terrorist associated with the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa. The Delhi Police Special Cell arrested the accused on 22 July from Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, he was involved in the grenade attack on the Lal Singh police station in Batala, Gurdaspur district of Punjab in April 2025. 

According to the DCP of the Special Cell, this arrest was made after a vital information was received during the investigation of an old Arms Act case of Delhi Police. Police said that the accused is a resident of Amritsar district of Punjab and was absconding for a long time.

Criminal history of the arrested accused

According to Delhi Police, the arrested youth Akashdeep Singh is originally from Amritsar, Punjab. He has studied till 11th and was currently working as a crane operator at a construction site in Indore. During interrogation by Delhi Police, he told that he was in contact with a handler of Babar Khalsa sitting abroad, who used to instruct him for terrorist activities through social media apps.

 Important link related to Punjab grenade attack 

On 7 April 2025, there was a Granite attack on the Kila Lal Singh police station in Batala, for which Happy Pachiya, Manu Agwan and Gopi took responsibility through social media posts. According to the police, all three were said to be associated with Babbar Khalsa International. Not only this, Delhi was also threatened after the attack. 

Based on the information, the Special Cell intensified the search for the Babbar Khalsa module. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police Special Cell received input that Akashdeep was hiding in Gujarat, but a few days later, concrete information was received that he was in Indore. After this, the special team conducted a raid on July 22 and arrested Akashdeep.

Important police investigation continues 

Delhi Police is currently interrogating Akashdeep, a suspected terrorist of Babbar Khalsa organization, who was arrested and Delhi Police Special Cell is searching for other members of this entire network. It believes that the arrest of Akashdeep can reveal a big terrorist module. He was an important part of the network of supplying weapons in Delhi and Punjab and many other terrorist members can also be exposed through him.
