News Topical, Digital Desk : Bihar Police was criticized in big and famous criminal incidents in many districts across the state including Chandan Mishra murder case in Paras Hospital of capital Patna or Gopal Khemka murder case. So Bihar DGP issued an order on 22nd July to curb media publicity. When the matter escalated, now DGP's clarification has also come on Wednesday.

New order of Bihar Police Captain

Bihar Police Captain DGP Vinay Kumar has issued a new order that only the ADG of the Police Headquarters, who is already nominated as the spokesperson, will brief the press-media on any matter. No one else has been given this right. Only the authorized spokesperson for the Police Headquarters (Additional Director General of Police, Headquarters) will read out the press note on important topics and inform the media after the approval of the DGP.

If any big or small incident happens, first of all the press media cell will approve it and after that DGP Vinay Kumar will forward it in writing to ADG after knowing the facts and what is to be presented in the media and ADG will read this letter and address it to the media and issue a press release.

An order has been issued by the Bihar Director General of Police that except for Patna, in other districts also, the SSP or authorized police officer will give information to the media as before. Through this order, it has been made clear that unauthorized police officers will not give bytes to the media. In other words, except the District Police Captain, no DSP or ASP and city and rural SP will give briefing to the media.

This order was issued on 22 July and this order letter was not allowed to reach the media, but somehow this letter reached the media and after the controversy, this order was made public by the Police Headquarters on Wednesday and it was said that it is not being interpreted correctly through many channels and social media.

No such major change has been made in the media address, earlier also the police spokesperson posted in the post of ADG in the police headquarters used to address the media. The only change made in this is that he will read only the letter approved by the DGP for addressing the press media. In big cases, only the ADG has been given the right to address the media.

ADG will brief the media

Let us tell you that in the orders issued on 22nd July, it was clarified that the Additional Director General of Police, who is already nominated as the Patna spokesperson, will issue briefings on important matters on the basis of press notes. Press notes will be made available to the media only through him. In any case, no information will be given through any other police officer or personnel. After approval of the Press and Media Cell, press notes on important topics will be made available to the police spokesperson in time.
