Before her struggling phase in the industry, there were false rumours of her death during the shooting of her 1995 film "Raghuveer". In a recent interview, Shilpa recalled that her parents got worried when she was shooting in Manali. She revealed that there were rumours that she had been shot dead. However, Shilpa herself has revealed the truth behind it.

Shilpa told the truth

Shilpa revealed that it was filmmaker Gulshan Kumar's idea to use the rumours of her being shot dead as a publicity stunt. In an interview, the actress recalled the time when she was not even aware of these speculations. After the release of her film "Bewafa Sanam", rumours of her death started spreading. She said, “I was in Kullu Manali. My father was trying to call the hotel as we did not have mobile phones at that time. I was shooting there with Suniel Shetty. Everyone watching the shoot there was wondering if it was Shilpa or someone else as they knew the news.”

25 missed calls from parents

Shilpa further said, "When I came back to the room, there were about 20-25 missed calls. My parents were tensed, the headline in the newspaper was that Shilpa Shirodkar was shot dead."

However, the film's producer Gulshan Kumar later clarified that it was a promotional technique. The actress said, “When they told me, I said, 'ok'. Yes, but it was a bit too much. There was no PR at that time. Kuch pata hi nahi tha. I got to know this last time that something like this was going to happen. At that time, no one took permission for these things. The film did well, so I was not very upset.”

Talking about the work front, Shilpa Shirodkar will next be seen in the Telugu supernatural thriller "Jatadhara". Produced by Zee Studios and directed by Venkat Kalyan, the film also stars Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles.
