Speaking at the Council meeting chaired by Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Shia said over the past three months, US leadership has contributed to reducing tensions between Israel and Iran, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda, and India and Pakistan.

He appealed to all the member countries of the United Nations to also make efforts to resolve their disputes. It is worth mentioning that Pakistan is currently a temporary member of the Security Council and is presiding over the Council in the month of July.

In the meeting, Dar raised the issue of suspension of Indus Water Treaty by Jammu and Kashmir and India. On this, Shia said that implementation of procedures is necessary for peaceful resolution of disputes.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution proposed by Pakistan to strengthen mechanisms for the peaceful resolution of disputes.
