News Topical, Digital Desk : On the 26th day of the US-Israel-Iran war, US President Donald Trump has sent a 15-point peace plan to Iran. This plan aims to end the war quickly, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and impose strict restrictions on Iran's nuclear program.

Trump said there had been "very good and productive" talks over the past two days. He postponed the attack on the Iranian power plant for five days to allow further discussions on the 15-point agreement. The plan was sent to Iran through Pakistan. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif himself offered to host the talks, and Trump reshared his post.

What are the main points of Trump's 15-point plan?

  1. Immediate ceasefire for 1 month: Attacks from both sides should stop immediately, so that talks can take place.
  2. Never to develop nuclear weapons: Iran must provide a written guarantee that it will never develop nuclear weapons.
  3. Eliminate all nuclear capabilities: Completely destroy or disable Iran's existing nuclear facilities.
  4. Shipping Uranium Stocks: Iran's entire stock of enriched uranium will have to be shipped out of the country (to the US or a third country).
  5. Cessation of uranium enrichment: Completely cease any level of uranium enrichment on Iranian soil.
  6. Fuel facility outside Iran: If a civilian nuclear program is to be run, the fuel production facility will be outside Iran and will be under UN supervision.
  7. Ending the Ballistic Missile Program: Destruction of Iran's ballistic missiles and related military infrastructure.
  8. Stop support to proxy groups: Stop providing weapons and funding to all proxy groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas.
  9. Stop attacks on Israel: Guaranteed to stop attacks on Israel by any group, including Hezbollah.
  10. Reopening the Strait of Hormuz: Keeping the Strait fully open and safe for non-hostile vessels. Iran may charge transit fees.
  11. Security of American and Israeli ships: Guaranteed safe passage of American and Israeli ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
  12. Partial relief of sanctions: Some economic sanctions may be lifted, but the relief money should be used only for humanitarian purposes (medicines, food items).
  13. UN monitoring: The entire agreement will be monitored by the United Nations or international agencies.
  14. Possibility of economic cooperation: Talk of some economic cooperation to revive Iran's economy if conditions are met.
  15. Lasting peace and verification: Establish a robust verification mechanism to ensure that there are no violations for a long time.

Trump claimed that Iran had given him a "huge gift" related to oil and gas. US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are expected to participate in the talks.

Iran's stance remains firm.

Iran has ruled out any direct talks. Tehran has reiterated its demands...

  • All US Gulf bases should be closed.
  • Remove all restrictions
  • Full compensation for war damages
  • Israel must stop attacks on Hezbollah
  • Iran should have complete control over Hormuz.

Iran said that Trump cheated twice before and will not be trapped a third time.

Iran appeals to Trump to continue the war

Israeli officials are shocked by Trump's ceasefire plan. They had been urging him to continue the war. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said today that the army would occupy southern Lebanon up to the Litani River, and that there would be no homes or civilians left in the "terrorist zone."

  • Hezbollah fired more than 30 rockets at Haifa and Nahariya, killing one woman.
  • Iran carried out drone attacks on Israeli aerospace factories.
  • Israel continued to attack Iranian targets, including Shiraz Airport.
  • Another blast at US base in Bahrain.
  • The US sent more than 3,000 additional troops to the region.

Despite tensions in Hormuz, oil prices fell slightly on news of Trump's plan, but remain elevated. Reliance purchased 5 million barrels of crude from Iran, taking advantage of a 30-day US waiver. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Trump by phone and appealed for peace in the region and for keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure. India is prioritizing its energy security.
