News Topical, Digital Desk : People in Pakistan are storing gas in balloons for cooking. This may sound strange, but it's absolutely true.
People living in some parts of Karachi have started storing gas in plastic balloons as prolonged gas cuts and low pressure are severely affecting their daily lives.
Situation critical in Karachi's Orangi Town
This practice is particularly prevalent in Karachi's Orangi Town area, which includes Mominabad. Residents there say they are left with no other option due to the erratic gas supply.
According to ARI News, specially designed plastic balloons are filled during short gas supply breaks and are later used for cooking at home.
Pakistan faces acute gas shortage
Residents said these balloons are available in local markets for around 1,000 to 1,500 rupees. They are filled when gas supply is restored for a short time.
Once filled, these balloons are disconnected from the gas line and then used as a makeshift storage system to meet the cooking needs throughout the day.
