News Topical, Digital Desk : The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on Saturday organized the third National Lok Adalat of this year in the talukas or tehsils, districts and high courts of 29 states and eight union territories of the country.

More than 2.42 crore cases were settled in this Lok Adalat. The aim of Lok Adalat is to provide speedy, accessible and affordable justice to the public. According to the preliminary report of NALSA, a total of 2,42,55,036 cases were settled till 6:30 pm. These included 2,10,44,809 pre-litigation cases and 32,10,227 pending cases.

Big relief for people

The total settlement value of these cases was more than Rs 7,817.62 crore. Lok Adalat has provided great relief to citizens by ensuring quick, accessible justice. Thousands of benches across the country simultaneously resolved disputes that would have remained stuck in courts for years.

These include revenue and bank recovery matters, motor accident claims, cheque dishonour cases, labour and employment disputes, matrimonial disputes (except divorce), land acquisition references, intellectual property rights disputes, consumer matters, electricity and water bill matters, traffic challans, and various civil matters.

It is noteworthy that the first Lok Adalat of this year was organized on March 8, while the second Lok Adalat was organized on May 10.
