News Topical, Digital Desk : A couple and their two minor children were killed when a speeding bus of a private travel company collided with a motorcycle in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district, police said on Thursday.

The opposition Congress alleged that after Wednesday's incident, the police, under pressure from the BJP, built a weak case against the bus driver because the bus belonged to a company run by the family of a ruling party MLA. Rejecting this allegation, the BJP said the state government always acts impartially and that the Congress is trying to politicize the incident.

Four members of the same family died in the collision.

Sanwer police station in-charge GS Mahobiya said that the accident occurred on Indore-Ujjain road late Wednesday night when a private company bus hit the motorcycle, killing Mahendra Solanki, his wife Jayshree Solanki and their sons Jigar and Tejas.

Unidentified bus driver fled from the spot

The unidentified bus driver fled the scene after the accident, the official said. A case has been registered against him under sections 281 (rash driving on a public way), 125(A) (act endangering human life) and 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

The bus belongs to the family of a BJP MLA

Another police officer confirmed that the bus belonged to a private travel firm run by the family of local BJP MLA Rakesh 'Golu' Shukla.

According to eyewitnesses, the bus, operated by Baneshwari Travels, had 'Golu' written on its rear and the collision was so severe that its front portion was badly damaged.

Congress blames the police

Madhya Pradesh Congress spokesperson Santosh Singh Gautam alleged that the police, under pressure from the ruling BJP, invoked weak legal provisions against the bus driver. "The driver should be charged with culpable homicide," he said. "This travel company's speeding buses have previously caused serious accidents on the Indore-Ujjain route," he alleged.

Rejecting the allegation, Madhya Pradesh BJP spokesperson Alok Dubey said, "The state government always works impartially. The Congress is making a malicious attempt to politicise this unfortunate road accident."
