Kolkata: RG Kar rape victim's family claims parties have offered to contest elections:The family said, "We are not ready to contest the elections yet; we want justice."

News Topical, Digital Desk : The parents of the female doctor who was brutalized on August 9, 2024, at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital said, "We are being offered to contest elections, but we want justice. Several political parties have offered to contest the assembly elections. The TMC has offered us money and permission to join politics from the beginning, but we did not agree to this offer."

Speaking to reporters, the victim's father said, "All political parties, including the TMC, the CPI(M), and the BJP, have offered to contest the next assembly elections. We will support any party only if we get justice. We will join any party that works to get us justice."

The doctor's father said she was offered a marriage proposal by BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, but she refused. The case was investigated by the Kolkata Police, which was later supported by the CBI.

The central agency also concluded that former civic volunteer Sanjay Rai was solely responsible for the crime. The court subsequently sentenced him to life imprisonment, although the doctor's family is dissatisfied with the verdict. They say the truth has not yet been fully revealed and many questions remain unanswered in the case.
