News Topical, Digital Desk : Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in South Africa to participate in the G20 summit. Yesterday, the Prime Minister held bilateral talks with several major countries. During this period, bilateral talks were also held between PM Modi and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Speaking to PM Modi, Cyril Ramaphosa jokingly said, "If you had told us that hosting the G20 is a very difficult task, we might not have been able to do it."

This is the first time the G20 summit has been held in Africa. South Africa, meanwhile, is hosting such a grand gathering, attended by leaders from the world's largest economies.

Ramaphosa said "thank you" to PM Modi

During the India-South Africa bilateral talks, the South African President thanked India. Looking towards PM Modi, Cyril Ramaphosa said, “India has been very supportive of South Africa in hosting the G20. Thank you for that. If you had told us it would be so difficult, we might have backed out.”

PM Modi also laughed at the South African President's humorous remarks. Cyril Ramaphosa further said:

We learned a lot from your hosting of the G20. While yours was excellent, ours is much smaller.

PM Modi responded

Responding to Cyril Ramaphosa's remarks, PM Modi immediately said, "Small is beautiful." India hosted the 18th G20 summit at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi in September 2023. South Africa also became the 21st member of the G20 during this time.
