On February 14th, a grand Bhasma Aarti was performed, and devotees experienced a wonderful darshan of Mahakal.
On the occasion of Mahashivratri, devotees from across the country have arrived in Ujjain to seek the blessings of Lord Mahakal. Worship of Lord Mahakal has begun with the Bhasma Aarti. During the Bhasma Aarti, Lord Mahakal is adorned with cannabis and dried fruits, followed by the nationwide famous Bhasma Aarti.
Following the Bhasma Aarti, the ritual of bathing the deity with milk and water will continue. Mahakal will be worshipped throughout the day on Mahashivratri. The Mahakaleshwar Temple will continue to offer prayers for 44 hours straight. The temple doors will remain open for devotees to visit the deity for 44 hours straight.
On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, the city of Ujjain is awash with Shiva. An atmosphere of devotion, faith, and enthusiasm pervades the entire area. An estimated 1 million devotees are expected to visit the Mahakaleshwar Temple, and extensive arrangements have been made. Over 1,000 police personnel have been deployed to ensure that people do not face any inconvenience.
Furthermore, keeping the convenience of devotees in mind, the administration has developed a special plan for traffic, security, and darshan arrangements. Additional barricades, medical facilities, and help desks have also been arranged around the temple complex to ensure that devotees coming from distant places do not face any difficulties.
