The joining took place in the presence of party chief Akhilesh Yadav. Along with him, BSP's Anees Ahmed Khan and former state president of Apna Dal, S. Raj Kumar Pal, also joined the Samajwadi Party.

On this occasion, Akhilesh Yadav stated that this joining will strengthen the PDA. He stated that a PDA Holi Milan will be held before Holi. He stated that the PDA stands with those who are suffering and grieving.
