News Topical, Digital Desk : Filmmaker Priyadarshan has worked with Rajpal Yadav in several films, including Malamaal Weekly, Bhagam Bhag, Chup Chup Ke, and De Dana Dan. He has now come out in support of the actor in his cheque bounce case. In a recent interview, Priyadarshan revealed that during a financial crisis, he increased Rajpal's fees to support him. He also explained that while the actor is "kind-hearted," his "poor education" led to his financial difficulties.

Rajpal will play the villain in his next film.

Priyadarshan said, “I've known him for over 20 years. I first saw him in 'Jungle' and was amazed by his performance. My first film with him was 'Malamaal Weekly', and after that, he's worked in most of my films. I asked the producers of my next film (Jubilee Films) to pay Rajpal more than they usually charge, considering his condition. We want to save him. The producers have agreed, and Rajpal is playing the villain in my film.”

Made a big mistake due to poor education – Priyadarshan

The filmmaker continued, "I knew about his problems. That's why I kept signing Rajpal for every film. I even gave him work in ad films."The poor guy made a huge mistake because of his lack of education. Rajpal is a good man

The next hearing will be on February 16.

Rajpal Yadav is serving a six-month jail sentence after the Delhi High Court rejected his final plea for relief in a long-running check bounce case. He surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5. His bail application is pending and will be heard on February 16, 2026.

During this difficult time, many Bollywood stars like Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Varun Dhawan, and Sonu Sood have come forward to help Yadav. Recently, Yadav's wife Radha also thanked everyone for their support, telling PTI, “Everyone has stood by him. The industry has supported him. A big thank you to everyone who has come forward to help.”

What is the whole matter?

In 2010, Rajpal Yadav made a film called "Aata Pata Lapata." To make the film, he borrowed 5 crore rupees from a Delhi businessman. The film was made for 11 crore rupees but flopped, grossing only 3.7 million rupees at the box office. Rajpal Yadav lost the money and was unable to repay it. The case then went to court, and the interest continued to mount.

In 2018, Rajpal was jailed but was granted bail. Currently, he owes ₹9 crore to a businessman. The checks he issued to pay the money bounced, preventing the case from being closed. Eventually, Rajpal surrendered in Tihar Jail and is currently serving his sentence there.
