News Topical, Digital Desk : The central government has taken a big decision regarding the issuance of visas. The central government has started regulatory relaxation for issuing visas in one day. According to the new decision of the central government, now Indian visa can be obtained in one day if all the documents are submitted correctly and properly.

Two new portals were launched

Along with this, the Central Government has launched two new portals District Police Module (DPM) and Foreigner Identification Portal (FIP) to strengthen the monitoring of illegal migrants and foreigners overstaying their visa.

Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Wednesday discussed policies related to visa simplification, modernisation of immigration check posts and other related matters in a review meeting held with senior officials of the Foreigners Division. The officials also informed the minister about the steps taken to simplify visa procedures.

The number of main visa categories was reduced from 26 to 22

The number of main visa categories has been reduced from 26 to 22 and the number of sub-categories from 104 to 69. In addition, due to simplification of the process, the average time taken to issue a visa has come down from several weeks to less than a day.

 

Modernization of immigration checkpoints

Under the modernisation of immigration check posts, facilities for automated travel document scanning and biometric enrolment have been introduced. The number of ICPs has increased from 82 in 2014 to 114 at present.

Passengers will be able to get immigration clearance in one minute

Officials said that the Trusted Traveller programme related to fast-track immigration is being implemented at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi and Ahmedabad airports. Here pre-verified passengers can get immigration clearance in just one minute. This facility will soon be started at Kozhikode, Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Amritsar, Tiruchirappalli, Noida and Navi Mumbai airports as well.
